What do I do if I get lost, have a mechanical or an accident?
We’ll be riding in small groups of eight to ten, so hopefully you won’t get dropped or lost. If you have a mechanical or an accident, we have a van following with full mechanical support. An emergency contact number will be printed on your race bib.
At the morning safety briefings, we’ll impress upon everyone the importance of looking out for their group members. You’ll have the same colour number to help identify who’s in your group. If you push ahead on a climb, just make sure you wait at the top unless otherwise instructed.
Make sure you carry a basic repair kit and at least two inner tubes. Ideally we’ll fix punctures ourselves without assistance from the support crew. They’ll be carrying a few more basic tools and spares, but we can’t guarantee we’ll be able to fix major mechanicals on the road. At least you’re guaranteed an easy ride home if you do have to jump in the van.
Let’s hope there’s no serious accidents. If anything happens we’ll do what we can to help as qualified first aiders, but there are air ambulance services serving the Lakes area if required. Please read the separate post regarding insurance.
